In order to acclimatize and adjust to your new environment, you should plan to depart for China at least a week before the contractual start date; however, in extenuating circumstances these dates can be negotiated.
Most schools are flexible in your arrival and departure times, if your schooling schedule interferes with these exact dates. For example, returning home at the end of December is possible when needed.
